Career Overview
I have over 12 years of experience in marketing communications for technology companies and non-profit organisations in high-growth stages, the last 8 years as an independent consultant. My strengths include project management, marketing communications strategies and planning, media relations/PR, campaign implementation, collateral development for electronic and print media, web site development, online marketing, direct mail and events management.
Since September 2000 I have been accepting short-term and long-term projects, most of which are detailed on the Home page of this website.
When I lived in Israel…
Prior to my move to London in the summer of 2000, I was living and working in Israel. Having first travelled there with a youth group tour when I was 16, I was intrigued about the country and motivated to learn a new language so when I graduated Brown University in 1990, I headed to the Middle East.
During the time I lived in Israel I worked first in the non-profit sector and then in the high-technology sector, during some of the largest economic growth years in the region.
From 1999-2000 I was Marketing Communications Director at Wind River (Nasdaq:WIND)
From 1995-9 I was Marketing Communications Manager at ECI Telecom (Nasdaq:ECIL)
From 1994-5 I was Director of Sales & Marketing for the WUJS Institute Arad, an educational non-profit organisation
And prior to that I was travelling, studying Hebrew & Jewish texts and volunteering at various non-profit organisations.
As a result of these many years living in Israel, I met my husband (Errol Damelin) and had our first baby there. I aslo speak fluent Hebrew, albeit with a lingering American accent…
Growing up in the Big Apple… and in London
Although I haven’t lived in the USA now for several decades, I did grow up in New York City and part of me still considers that ‘home’, especially Greenwich Village where I spent most of my childhood.
In 1986 my family and I moved to London, UK where I attended the American School in London. During high school I was very involved in theatre groups, particularly loving Shakespearean plays and the arts.
Going back to the USA for college, I graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Humanities in 1990. At Brown I continued performing in plays and musicals in addition to my course-load. Within the campus community, I organised campaigns on women’s issues and was part of an Israeli-Palestinian working group.
